Count likely winners before bidding: aces and high spades are stronger than isolated low cards, but no hand estimate guarantees a contract.
Watch whether your partner is already winning the trick before spending a high trump. Saving a useful card can matter later in the hand.
Compare your team’s bid with tricks taken and bags accumulated. Taking every possible extra trick may cause a 100-point penalty. Nil is a separate risk, not a free zero bid.
