Compare adjacent numbers before opening a covered cell. A 1 with only one covered neighbor proves that neighbor is a mine.
Treat your own flags as hypotheses until checked. Chording a number with misplaced flags can reveal a mine even when the flag count looks right.
Use the dedicated Flag button on a phone. Pan from the board margin and enlarge dense boards instead of tapping uncertain tiny cells.
